Many expecting mothers experience low back pain and this is often due to structural, chemical and hormonal changes that allow relaxation of the supportive ligaments.
Chiropractic treatment throughout pregnancy is important to establish proper stability and balance throughout the pelvis. Chiropractors use special tables and pillows to adjust to the patient's body and to avoid unneeded pressure on the abdomen.
Dr DeMayo uses specific chiropractic manipulations/mobilizations along with exercises and stretches to maintain stability throughout pregnancy to allow for better hip/back mobility and to decrease pregnancy related back pain.
She is certified in the Webster Technique through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). This technique is a specific and gentle chiropractic analysis that eliminates interference to the nervous system and restores balance to the pelvic muscles and ligaments. This safe approach creates an environment that encourages optimal baby positioning for an easier, faster delivery.

Dr. DeMayo is a mom to boy/girl twins. She understands the importance of learning about and maintaining proper stability through out her core and pelvic floor both during and after pregnancy.
She has always remained passionate about helping the body heal, and has encouraged her patients to take an active role in their recoveries through movement exercises.
Jackie discovered BIRTHFIT a few years ago when she was researching functional ways to help her pregnant patients maintain body/core stability during their pregnancies and postpartum transitions. She found that BIRTHFIT offered these movements they call functional progressions and SO MUCH MORE. It is her mission to educate and empower women as they progress through their own motherhood
There are certain exercises that are necessary to incorporate and to avoid as pregnancy changes.
Please consider consulting with Dr. D to go over these recommendations or join us in a class!
Our Mission is to cultivate awareness and enhance education throughout the motherhood transition by developing and producing one of a kind BIRTHFIT experiences through in-person classes and distance learning so that a woman has the space to make her own informed, intuitively guided choices.
Here’s what we’re about:
BIRTHFIT is a movement. It’s about expecting and postpartum moms taking charge of their bodies and their decisions, and supporting one another’s journeys—together and apart.
BIRTHFIT is an approach to birth. We challenge the status quo and ask the questions no one else asks. We read, research, experiment, and consolidate all the common sense, time-honored wisdom, and recent studies we can find and present that information to you through various education models. Our pillars are fitness, nutrition, mindset, and connection. We unconditionally support YOU—the birth mom & birth partner—to make the best decision for you and Baby.
BIRTHFIT is a state of readiness. Childbirth is perhaps the most physical, mental, and spiritual experience of a woman’s life. We want you to be ready in body, mind, and spirit for the experience of birth and the lifelong journey that follows.
BIRTHFIT is your support team. We are a team of practitioners, educators, chiropractors, coaches, nutritionists, fellow mamas, men, and women who are involved in our local communities and we are all rooting for YOU.
Our experiences and services are founded on four pillars:
To functionally train throughout the Motherhood Transition in all planes of motion to develop competencies and physical skills as well as enhance the main metabolic pathways.
To cultivate a relationship with food that is rich in color and nutrients from a wide variety of animals, fish, plants, fruits, fats, and starchy tubers, while nourishing the body through the different rhythms of life and the female cycle.
To create space between a stimulus and a response, to embrace a growth perspective, and create action around values in order to make decisions from a place of love rather than fear.
To open pathways from the cellular to the metaphysical level wherein a human can experience and express optimal health in body, mind, and soul.
